Niagara Communities Comprehensive Plan

Project Overview

Logo

"The Niagara Communities Comprehensive Plan is being developed through a grassroots process that encourages positive and meaningful dialogue on the issues and challenges facing Niagara County and its communities in the 21st Century. Many of these issues are familiar to us, but our challenges can be overcome by working together. This process is about providing an opportunity for each and every one of us to come up with solutions that will bring us closer to realizing positive change in our communities. The process is just beginning and I urge everyone to get involved by participating in upcoming workshops and meetings, and by engaging in constructive dialogue. The Niagara Communities Comprehensive Plan will be shaped by your ideas, so please get involved and help author the Plan. Let's plan to participate and participate to plan!"

-Greg Lewis, Niagara County Manager

The Niagara Communities Comprehensive Plan will address five core planning elements. These five elements will be considered and addressed throughout the planning process when examining goals and objectives, issues and opportunities, existing conditions and future needs, and strategies and recommendations. The five Focus Areas of the Niagara Communities Comprehensive Plan are:

1. Land Use and Environment
2. Economic Development
3. County Services and Facilities
4. Educational Institutions
5. Public Health and Safety

The Niagara Communities Comprehensive Plan is almost entirely grant funded having received funding through the New York State Quality Communities Program and the New York State Office for Small Cities. Niagara County has contracted Clough Harbour & Associates to serve as the lead planning consultant for the project and to prepare the plan. Together with sub-consultants Basile Baumann Prost Cole & Associates and Community Oriented Geography, the consulting team brings an experienced group of planners, economists, engineers, analysts, geographers, and environmental scientists to the project.
